Job Description

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) is offering two (2) outstanding internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students with a strong interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources, allowing you to test your abilities and further explore your career interests. At BCBSKS, we give our interns a firsthand look and direct experience inside the organization and take advantage of getting to know you!

This position is based in Topeka, Kansas.

What you'll do

Skills

Are you looking for an experience that will place you directly on a HR functional team? BCBSKS interns work closely with an HR team member and are active members of the team. We delegate projects crafted to be completed and delivered by the end of your internship, that are intended to provide you with operational experience as well as an overview in our HR function. Depending on your interests and skills, there are a variety of concentrations where you can contribute and grow your skills:

  • Recruitment
  • Employee Relations
  • Job Architecture
  • Career Development
  • Total Rewards
  • Other Human Resources related areas as needed

You will gain knowledge of and collaborate with Human Resources and other business professionals throughout the internship.

What you need

  • Currently enrolled student at a four-year university in an undergraduate or graduate program with an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better. If in an undergraduate program, the student will be a junior or senior.
  • The individual's area of study must be related to Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Communication or Social Sciences.
  • Strong organization and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Problem solving capabilities necessary to accomplish the duties and tasks of the internship.
  • Strong PC skills (Windows operating system, e-mail, HRIS, internet browsing and research).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access).
  • Team player who is able to work with multiple departments.
  • Need to be self-motivated and be able to carry out activities with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentially of sensitive data required.
