Job Description

The University of Alaska is seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced Leave and Accommodations Manager to lead the administration of medical and disability leave benefits and workplace accommodations across the UA system. This is a pivotal role at the intersection of compliance, legal interpretation, and employee support—ideal for a professional with deep expertise in ADA/ADAAA, FMLA, and related employment law.

As the university’s subject-matter expert, you will provide legally sound guidance on complex cases, design proactive policies, and ensure that UA’s practices align with evolving legal standards. You’ll manage a diverse caseload, serve as a trusted partner to HR teams and university leadership, and play a key role in fostering a workplace where employees and applicants are appropriately supported through life’s critical events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in HR or a related field, and 5 years of HR experience, or equivalent combination of training/education/experience.
Three years supervisory/managerial experience. Experience in Leave and Accommodations.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and  full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the  UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 81, based on education and experience.
