Senior Director of Development

Location: Boston, MA

Salary: $150,000

The Senior Director of Development will serve as a strategic leader, responsible for designing and executing a dynamic fundraising strategy that ensures long-term revenue growth. This position will focus on expanding and diversifying funding streams—major gifts, corporate partnerships, individual contributions, and institutional grants—while ensuring cost-effective fundraising practices.

The role includes leading donor cultivation and stewardship efforts, managing the fundraising team and operations, and collaborating with the Board and senior leadership to strengthen institutional advancement. This leader will also oversee financial forecasting related to fundraising and partner with global teams to support international revenue initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy that drives growth across multiple revenue streams

• Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities, leveraging data and market insights to improve strategy and efficiency

• Oversee donor stewardship programs to strengthen engagement and retention

• Manage day-to-day fundraising operations, including proposal writing, donor outreach, and grant submissions, with regular evaluation of KPIs

• Collaborate with senior leadership, the Board, and volunteers to support fundraising efforts through their networks

• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with corporations, foundations, and public-sector funders

• Align fundraising strategies with organizational financial goals and lead budgeting and forecasting related to development activities

• Supervise and mentor a high-performing fundraising team

• Coordinate with global teams to drive international fundraising initiatives

• Cultivate relationships with key donors through strategic communication and outreach

• Oversee planning and execution of major fundraising events and campaigns

• Use data and analytics to refine strategy, assess campaign impact, and increase donor engagement

• Represent the organization at external events to elevate visibility and support
  

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• 7–10 years of nonprofit development experience, with a track record of securing major gifts and managing diverse funding sources

• Experience in international fundraising and working with foundations, government agencies, or corporations

• Strong grasp of digital fundraising tools and trends

• Demonstrated ability to lead strategic planning and implement successful fundraising campaigns

• Background in healthcare or international development is a plus

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Proven leadership and team management capabilities

• Experience managing budgets and achieving measurable financial goals

• Proficiency in CRM platforms and fundraising software

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
